Getting to and from Lima Airport (Jorge Chávez)

How far is the airport from Miraflores?
The drive is usually 45–60 minutes depending on traffic.
In rush hour (mornings 7–9am, evenings 5–9pm), it can take up to 90 minutes.

What are the best transportation options?

1. Airport Express Lima (bus)
Direct, safe bus service between the airport and Miraflores.
Runs roughly every 30–45 minutes from early morning until late evening.
Cost: about $8–10 USD one-way.
Comfortable, Wi-Fi onboard, luggage storage included.

2. Taxi or private transfer
Official airport taxis are available inside the terminal.
Safer to pre-book with a trusted company (e.g., Taxidatum, Green Taxi, or your hotel).
Cost: around $20–30 USD one-way.
Good option if you’re arriving late at night or traveling with a group.

3. Ridesharing (Uber, Cabify, InDriver)
Widely used in Lima.
Cost: about $15–25 USD depending on traffic and time of day.
Note: pickup from the airport can sometimes be tricky; confirm your meeting point in the app.

Is public transportation (minibuses or combis) recommended?
Not for first-time visitors or with luggage. They’re cheap, but crowded, confusing, and not the safest option. Stick to the bus, taxi, or rideshare.

Safety tips
Only use official, pre-booked, or app-based rides. Avoid hailing taxis outside the terminal. Keep an eye on your belongings, especially in busy traffic.

Returning to the airport
Allow at least 3 hours before your international flight (traffic + check-in/security). For domestic flights, 2 hours is usually enough. If your flight is during rush hour, pad in extra time.
