Chasing the Northern Lights
One of the most beautiful natural phenomenon
Lapland region is known for being the Winter Wonderland of Europe. You can experience here many once in a lifetime adventures such as dog sledding, snowshoe hiking into the Laplands white wilderness and of course, you cannot miss out on the mesmerizing Northern lights hunting.
Other things that can become handy during your trip!
Handwarmers – You cannot go wrong with extra things that keep you warm during long days of winter activities. Also, it doesn’t take up a lot of space, so it’s perfect when you have a limited amount of luggage space.
Swimwear – Unless you want to experience the authentic Scandi-style and go the sauna completely naked, you might want to take a bathing suit with you ;)
Portable charger – With many magnificent views all around you it’s probably hard to resist not to take lots of pictures. That’s why it’s a good idea to bring a portable charger with you so that your phone is always charged and you don’t miss out on any good photo opportunities.
Be sure to pack everything from this list on your next adventure with us to the Northern Lights!
What to pack for the Northern Lights
The attractions can be amazing but since most of them are outdoor, it’s very important to prepare yourself for this chilly weather before coming to Sweden. To make your stay the most enjoyable, we have prepared a list of things we recommend taking with you on your upcoming trip to Lapland.
Let’s start with some basics!
A good quality winter jacket - As you will be spending most of your time outside a good quality jacket is a must! The best jackets are the ones that are long, warm, water and windproof and come with a hood.
Waterproof snow boots - Another essential on your trip. There is nothing worse than having cold and wet feet after the whole day of exploring. Make sure that your shoes are waterproof, have a good grip and are appropriate for the icy conditions. Don’t forget to also pack a couple of pairs of warm, woollen socks to go with your shoes!
Winter trio: Beanie, scarf and gloves - If you want to go one step further you can purchase gloves in which you can use your smartphone without the need to take them off every time you want to take a pic.
Thermal wear – When being in Lapland it’s always better to have an extra layer of clothes that you can take off, rather than having too little and freezing throughout the whole trip. That’s why any type of thermal wear is crucial to keep you warm.
Basic medicine - Though we hope that your trip will go as smoothly as possible, it’s always a good idea to take with you some painkillers and throat lozenge just in case.
Face moisturizer, body lotion and lip balm – Aside from your regular skincare don’t forget these 3 things. Spending a lot of time outside in cold weather might cause your skin to dry out quickly so we recommend packing them to prevent it from happening.
