What to pack for Jordan
Jordan is a bucket list place for people who love the adrenaline kick and are seeking unusual adventures off the beaten path, such as getting lost in the ancient city of Petra, exploring the ruins in Amman, riding in a jeep on the desert, diving or snorkelling in Aqaba or enjoy floating on the Dead Sea. Because there is a wide variety of activities you can do in Jordan, many people don’t know what to pack for that occasion. That is why we have decided to help you out and prepared a short list of things to take into consideration when packing for a trip to Jordan.
Appropriate outfits – Jordan is a Muslim country so while being there you should respect their culture and dress appropriately. We recommend bringing for the trip a pair of long pants and a couple of long shirts or at least something to cover up when you are in public areas.
A hoodie or some sort of warm layer of clothing – Although during the day it might get really hot, in some areas of Jordan the daily amplitudes are really big and it can be chilly during the night, especially if you are staying somewhere close to the desert.
Comfortable shoes – During your trip hiking shoes or a solid pair of sneakers/sandals are very important, because you will probably do a lot of outdoor exploring.
Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen – Essentials to deal with the constant heat and to avoid getting sunburn.
Bandanas and a headscarf – These are great multifunctional accessories that take up almost no space in your bag, so we highly recommend bringing them with you. You can use them when you are in a desert to cover up from sand coming into your eyes, face and hair, but can be also used to protect you from the sun. For girls, a headscarf is a lot of the time required to enter some of the religious sites, as Jordan is a Muslim country.
Swimsuit – Essential for a nice dip in the Dead Sea.
Dry bag, water shoes and Go Pro – Great for those water adventures.
Universal Plug Adapter - In Jordan you’ll find different types of outlets so taking a universal adapter will be the most convenient.
Cash – In many places in Jordan you will still need to have some cash with you to pay for things like souvenirs etc., especially in the more remote destinations.
Don’t forget anything from this list on your next trip with us to Jordan!
